Eklingji temple, Darshan timings and History of Ekling ji Mahadev Udaipur

Eklingji temple is one of the most well known temple in Udaipur as well as Rajasthan . It is located in the town named Eklingji which is also known as Kailaspuri but this place got famous from the name of temple Eklingji. Eklingji temple is situated 8km away from the Udaipur . This temple is dedicated to Hindu god Eklingji.

Eklingji temple

The temple or the architecture of the temple is simply remarkable . It looks awsome with its double stores . At the first look the style of temple looks like pyramid . the main temple is a huge pillared hall or 'mandap' that is sheltered by hefty pyramidal roof. On entering this hall, you will be welcomed by a silver image of Nandi. In the temple, there are two other images of Nandi carved in black stone and brass respectively. You would find this temple full of mesmerizing fragrance.

History of Eklingji

The temple was built in the 734 AD by Bappa Rawal . Since than Eklingji is ruling the diety of Mewar Rulers . As time passed it was repaired and modified by the various king of that time to clean the remnants of the obliteration made by the attacks of Mohmmedans .

Idols in Ekling ji Mandir

There is fourface Idol of  Eklingji Mahadev made from black marble . One face from the four faces of Eklingji of east facing face is recognized as Surya , the west is Lord Brahma , North is LOrd Vishnu , and the South is Rudra . The four faced Shivlinga is guarded by the silver snake .

As we talked about other idols in Eklingji temple the Shivalinga is surrounded by the Idol of Goddess Parvati ji , Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya. There are also statues of Goddess Sarswati and goddess Yamuna inside the temple . At the north side of temple there are two tanks named Karz kund and Tulasi kund , from these tanks water is being used durring festival times of the temple .

Best to visit Eklingji Temple is between the months of July to April.
 Eklingji Temple is open for Darshan from 4:15 am to 6:45 am, followed by 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and lastly from 5:15 pm to 7:45 pm (timings need to be checked before a visit to confirm any changes).
